EDMOND - Francis Tuttle Technology Center officials held an official
groundbreaking ceremony the morning of Tuesday, July 17, for a new location on
Progressive Drive in Cross Timbers Office Park Northeast, near the northeast
corner of Interstate 35 and Covell Road. The Francis Tuttle Business Innovation
Center will accommodate Business and Industry Services, adult and career
development courses, the Center for Municipal Excellence and a business
incubator.
Business and Industry
Services is a comprehensive consulting and training group comprised of
specialists experienced in a variety of industries. Customized business
performance solutions are developed to address the specific needs of
organizations to enhance and ensure success.
Adult and career development courses are short-term, adult
education courses developed for professional development and personal
enrichment in many areas. Courses are currently held at the Downtown Community
Center and will move to the new location once complete.
The Center for Municipal
Excellenceis the result of a partnership between the City of
Edmond and Francis Tuttle designed to meet the specific needs of municipal
workers. Training focuses on systematic work practices and refining skill sets
relevant to municipal workers. Employees from municipalities across the state
may attend the training provided through the CME.
Business incubators
accelerate the successful development of start-up companies by providing
entrepreneurs with targeted resources and services which prepare entrepreneurs
and companies for success in the marketplace. Successful completion of a
business incubation program increases the likelihood that a startup company
will stay in business for the long term. Some studies have reported up to 87
percent of incubator graduates remained in business.
The two-story 38,000 square foot facility is being developed
by Raptor Properties. The Business Innovation Center is expected to open in Fall
2013.
