Former Francis Tuttle Pre-Engineering Academy students told of the good preparation they had received, and warned of potential pitfalls for students planning for college during an insightful assembly at Francis Tuttle's Portland campus. Students currently in the Pre-Engineering Academy listened intently as the college students shared their experiences.
One of the goals of Francis Tuttle's Pre-Engineering Academy is to prepare students for the rigorous math and science of a university engineering degree program. The Academy also introduces students to many areas of engineering so that students are prepared and aware prior to declaring a major.
Current college students said that time management and keeping up with their studies were big keys to their future success in college, warning that if they allowed themselves to, they could have a lot of free time to fill with frivolous activities. They also thanked their teachers for providing group activities and offering presentation opportunities, as well as preparing them well for college-level calculus and physics.
