The Francis Tuttle Technology Center Board of Education passed a resolution of support for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina during the regular Board meeting Monday night. The Board approved the waiver of tuition, books and fees to remain in effect for the entire FY 2006 school term for those affected.
The resolution stated, in part, that the Francis Tuttle Board "*recognizes the profound impact of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina on residents of the Gulf Coast, and desires to assist individuals displaced by Hurricane Katrina in all matters involving the securing of training or retraining to secure meaningful employment."
Francis Tuttle is also accepting donations of tangible items to assist victims, including non-perishable, ready-to-eat food, bottled water, diapers and infant formula, and personal hygiene products, as well as cash donations. Collected items will be accepted through September 23 at any of Francis Tuttle's three campuses, and will be donated to Feed the Children, while monetary donations will be distributed to The American Red Cross (checks may be made payable to The American Red Cross).
Meanwhile, Francis Tuttle students are conducting a "Loose Change" drive to support the efforts of these organizations during the week of September 12 - September 16, to collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, as well as "silent money" (bills).
