Francis Tuttle Serving as Community Collection Site

By Jeff Knapp

September 12, 2005

Francis Tuttle Technology Center is accepting donations of tangible items to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Tangible items include non-perishable, ready-to-eat food, bottled water, baby items (diapers and ready-to-use infant formula) and personal hygiene products.

Tables will be set up near the entrances of each building at each campus (12777 N. Rockwell, 3500 N.W. 150th and 7301 W. Reno). Collected items will be accepted through September 23, and donated to Feed the Children, who will distribute to the Gulf states region.

Cash donations will also be accepted by the cashier's office for donation to The American Red Cross. Checks may be made payable to the organization.
In conjunction with this effort, students will also conduct a "Loose Change" drive to support the efforts of these organizations. During the week of September 12 - September 16, designated students will visit classes with containers to collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, as well as "silent money" (bills).
